McLovin FC came into this season with the hope of picking up the DPL trophy for a fourth time, the returning champions Jape FC looked confident of retaining the trophy following a glorious 2 season coup of the league winning in both Scotland and Indonesia.
The season began in the traditional DPL fashion with a tight pack at the top of the table, by match day 15, 7 teams sat within 8 points of eachother at the top of the table with Beags coming out on top in the early stages of the season.
By matchday 25 the league had got into speed with a title race well underway between Beags FC and McLovin FC, despite two red cards Beags overcame Todd in a 5-1 victory and McLovin had lost a chance to close the gap in a 2-1 loss to Dons. It was clear by this point that the league holders Jape FC would not be on for 3 in a row following a poor start to the season which saw them sit just about the relegation zone in 9th place.
Matchday 37 saw a turn of fate within the league with Beags FC falling short at home to Ronin, and McLovin storming over reigning champions Jape FC. This brought McLovin within 3 points of the league leaders who had been top of the table for 22 weeks.
Beags FC continued on a poor spell with losses to Red Star whilst their competitors won again, against Jape, this run put McLovin top of the table by matchday 38 ending the 23 week streak of Beags FC at the top of the table.
With 2 games left in the season on matchday 42 McLovin FC were crowned champions following a 1-1 draw with Red Star at the Craig Levein Arena, 7 points ahead of their chasers Beags FC who lost 2-3 to Ben FC at home. As if things couldnt get worse for Beags they then suffered a brutal 2-0 defeat against McLovin on matchday 43.
As expected Red Star faced relegation following a 6 point deduction for rule breaches, Heat Check joined them at the bottom of the table. Relegation regular FC Todd managed to avoid automatic relegation for the first time in 3 seasons but fell 10 points short of staying clear of the playoffs.
Soba Cup Cup
The reigning Soba Cup Cup champions Dons comftorably made it through their group stage undefeated in what proved to be an easy group with Ben FC joining them in the Semi Finals. Meanwhile in the group of death, Craig also qualified with 0 losses in the group stage and surprising Ronin FC with 2 defeats made it through over league heavy weights McLovin FC and Jape.
Following two surprise results in the semi-finals, the cup final rookies Ronin and Ben took to the stage of the Soba Cup Cup final on Mars. Manager Thomas Tuchel finally took Ben FC to a long coveted piece of silverware, implementing an ultra-attacking lineup consisting of Ronaldo, Foden, Muller, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grelish the Relish to take Ben FC to their best season yet. Comfortably dominating their final against Ronin FC in a 2-1 display, it wouldn't be until the 2nd half that Ben FC would break through and score their 2 goals from Ronaldo and Silva.
Coop Cup
The opening round of the Coop Cup offered no surprises with McLovin, Heatcheck, Ben and Craig all defeating their championship opponents. Cup holders FC Todd faced immediate elimination from the competition following a 2-0 defeat to Dons FC.
In the quarter finals Dons fell short in a brutal 120 minute game at the Timmy Abraham stadium, Ben FC proved to be the better team scoring twice in extra time to defeat Nagelsmann's side. It took penalties to seperate Jape and Beags after a long 120 minutes of football was unable to seperate the teams on 2 goals each. Elsewhere McLovin and Craig safely saw off Sammy and Heatcheck.
The major semi-final clash saw Craig take on McLovin. 90 Minutes couldn't seperate the teams with extra time being called to force a winnner, that winner looked like Craig FC following an early extra time goal. That was until in the 121st minute when Craig conceded a penalty. The leagues top goalscorer Robert Lewangoalski stepped up to hammer it home for McLovin and send it to penalties, however a masterclass save from Craig FC goalkeeper Courtois sent Craig into the final and Lewangoalski into tears.
Carlo Ancelotti, faithful to answer the call to manage Craigco FC as ever took them to a long-awaited piece of silverware after seasons of bottleing leagues and cup finals since their first double under Simeone. The team came out on top from a tightly contested match versus Jape FC, winning 3-2 in added extra time with a goal from Isak to tie it up before full time in the 86th minute.
